How to Rotate PDF Pages Online

  1. 1

    Upload your PDF

Add the document with incorrectly oriented pages.

  2. 2

    Select rotation

Choose 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise, or 180° flip. Apply to all pages or specific ones.

  3. 3

    Save the corrected PDF

Download the rotated document. The rotation is permanent — not just a view setting.

Why PDFs End Up Sideways

Scanners are the main culprit. Feed a document in landscape and the scanner saves it as portrait, rotated 90 degrees. Phone scans auto-detect orientation, but they get it wrong frequently — especially with documents that have text in multiple directions.

Some PDF generators also create rotated output. Exported spreadsheets that should be landscape come out as portrait with sideways content. Presentation slides exported to PDF sometimes have the same issue.

The rotation here is baked into the PDF — it's not a display setting that might get ignored. Open the rotated file in any PDF reader, on any device, and the pages show correctly. This matters when sharing files, since display-only rotation can revert depending on the reader.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does rotation affect the content quality?

Zero quality change. Rotation modifies the page's orientation metadata, not the actual content. Text, images, and vectors stay pixel-perfect.

Can I rotate just one page in a multi-page PDF?

Yes. Select specific pages to rotate while leaving others unchanged. Useful when only the scanned page is sideways but the rest is fine.

What's the difference between CW and CCW rotation?

Clockwise (CW) turns the page right. Counter-clockwise (CCW) turns it left. If your page is sideways with text running bottom-to-top, you need CW. Top-to-bottom needs CCW.
