How to Fix an Upside-Down PDF

  1. 1

    Add the flipped PDF

    Drop in the upside-down document.

  2. 2

    Flip 180°

The tool defaults to 180° rotation for this exact situation. Apply to all pages or just the flipped ones.

  3. 3

    Confirm and download

Check the thumbnail previews to make sure everything reads correctly, then download.

How Documents End Up Upside Down

The most common scenario: feeding pages into a scanner face-down but the wrong way around. The scanner can't tell which end is up, so it faithfully scans your upside-down document as-is. You don't notice until you open the PDF later.

Auto-document feeders (ADF) are another frequent cause. Some feeders require documents face-up, others face-down, and some require a specific edge fed first. Get any of these wrong and the entire batch comes out flipped.

A 180° rotation is the simplest fix. Unlike sideways rotation (which has a CW/CCW choice to make), upside-down is upside-down. One 180° flip and you're done. The tool applies this to all pages by default since if the scanner flipped one page, it flipped them all.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only some pages are upside down. Can I fix just those?

Yes. Deselect 'all pages' and choose specific page numbers to flip. The tool shows thumbnails so you can identify which ones need fixing.

My PDF looks upside down in one reader but fine in another. What's going on?

Some PDF readers apply display rotation from metadata while others ignore it. Using this tool creates a permanent rotation that works consistently across all readers.

Will this fix a mirrored/reversed PDF?

No. This tool rotates (flips top-to-bottom and left-to-right simultaneously). A mirrored document where text reads backwards requires a horizontal flip, which is a different operation not currently supported.
